The toponym “Largo dei Trecento” explicitly recalls the volunteers who landed with Pisacane.

The obelisk is one of the three main city memorials together with the Pisacane statue (1933) and the Spigolatrice on the Scialandro.

Memorial dedicated to the June 28, 1857 landing of Carlo Pisacane and his companions. Located in Largo dei Trecento, it was erected for the expedition’s first centenary and forms part of the city’s Risorgimento memory trail.

To retrace the itinerary of the Sapri Expedition from its symbolic place and link it to the city’s other landmarks (statue in the Municipal Gardens, Scialandro).

How to get there

From the historic center, follow signs to Santa Croce/Specola and reach Largo dei Trecento. From the station (Piazza Vittorio Veneto) it’s about a 10–15 minute walk.
